Mantra Fusion Band
Mantra Fusion Band is a Croatian band from Split, which was formed in the beginning of 2007. It is an ethno world music band whose sound is influenced by Indian classical & folk music, Oriental and European ethno music such as Macedonian, gypsy and kletzmer music, as well as contemporary western music. MFB sound is fusion of eastern and western musical tradition. Most of the instruments are acoustic, including those who are used in Indian and Arabic music such as sitar, tampura, tablas, mridanga, harmonium, and darbuka combined with African drumm jembe and classical European instruments viola, violin, clarinet, accordion and acoustic guitar together with electric bass. First part of the band name Mantra comes from one of the oldest languages in the world, Devanagari or Sanskirt, and it's meaning is mystical syllable or transcedental sound vibration which liberates soul from material existence. All songs are based on traditional vaisnavic tunes from India, except He Govinda, He Gopala which is cover of Macedonian folk song Jovano, Jovanke and Nrsimha Prayers intro (theme from No Quarter by Led Zeppelin). Song lyrics are ancient Sanskrit mantras, prayers and traditional spiritual poems written in hindu and bengali language.
