I lived there at the time and knew Bhaktivedanta. This scene was an exception in my experience. . More often a group would sit on Haight Street sidewalks and sing "Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare, Hare," over and over while clapping hands and playing finger cymbals.. Compared with this the video fails to give the real spontaneous sincere character. It was not like a "performance." I saw Bhaktivedanta lead the entire audience of the Avalon Ballroom in singing the chant, and it also was nothing like this. I can still hear the tune in my head after all these years.
