ISKCON Padayatra

Unknown

Padayatra means "walking festival". In India devotees of Krishna perform various padayatras in holy places at festival times. Srila Prabhupada, the Founder-Acarya of ISKCON wanted to go on padayatra with a cart pulled by bulls to travel to the holy tirthas and recover his health in 1977. This did not happen but in 1986 ISKCON established a program to perform Padayatra all over the world to celebrate the five hundredth anniversary of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
