Krishna Tube 6 years agoYou're right, it doesn't help... It is an ITV video produced in the 1980's so it is included here for the sake of history. He is a devotee and vegetarian and the idea was to convince people to become vegetarians thinking that would be somehow helpful for them to become Krishna conscious.

So that is the theory, get them to become vegetarian and then they will be more likely to become Krishna conscious. But it is wrong, bogus, incorrect. Srila Prabhupada says that "Even the pidgins are vegetarians, that is no qualification."

So it is not our business to preach vegetarianism. That is useless actually. It is our business to preach Krishna consciousness, to get the people to chant Hare Krishna, to feed them Krishna Prasadam and get them to read Srila Prabhupada's books. This is preaching actually.

Devotees automatically develop all good qualities. Vegetarianism is a good quality of course, but a devotee is automatically a vegetarian, actually only accepts Krishna prasadam.

So the point is to make people devotees then automatically they will have all good qualities including vegetarianism. There is no use preaching vegetarinaism thinking that is somehow or other connected to Krishna consciousness and helpful. It is not.

So there is a lot of misdirected wrong preaching in the history of ISKCON and this video is an example of that. But still it is the history and at the moment we are uploading the historical videos, "for the record"
