  • O'Hare Airport in Chicago was one of the biggest locations for distributing Srila Prabhuapda's books in the 70's. This documentary film was made in the 80's about the Hare Krishna book distribution that was going on at this airport then.

      Anthony 12 months agoInteresting to see this video as it was taken only six weeks after the crash of American Airlines Flight 191 which happened at this airport. One of the followers of Hare Krishna had sadly lost both his parents on AA Flight 191.

        Anthony 10 months ago@yashsvidixit7169 Yeah, American Airlines Flight 191. Sheldon and Judith Wax were on that flight. Judith wrote about her son's involvement in Hare Krishna in her 1979 autobiographic book "Starting in the Middle." She also wrote about it in a 1977 New York Times article titled "Sharing a Son with Hare Krishna". Oddly in her "Starting in the Middle" book that came out a few months before she died Judith had written about her intense fear of flying which ended up being on page 191 of the book.

        Yashsvi Dixit 10 months ago@Anthony-xe5db Holy moly that's very spooky, It being on page number 191. I wonder if it is just coincidence or a consciously provided hint by higher powers. As an aviation geek, I have researched a lot about American Flight 191 which lost its left engine on the runway during takeoff roll and then bent sharply to the left and plunged into the ground killing everyone on board. but I didn't knew that it was so closely related to ISKCON. In 2019, I was supposed to fly from Bangalore to Mumbai, Mumbai to New Delhi and New Delhi to JFK via Vienna, Austria. But I missed the Mumbai to New Delhi flight and was stranded on Mumbai airport. Thankfully, Air India rescheduled me on another flight on the next day which would fly nonstop from Mumbai to New Jersey, Newark Liberty. And that flight number was AI-191D. And considering so many 191 flights that have crashed in the past, I felt little little creeped out that I missed the flight only to end up in an long flight with number 191. And it did do its fair share of shenanigans, When I reached New Jersey, I found that my baggage has been left in Mumbai itself.

          Are you distributing the original books Prabhu? Since there are many thousands of changes done to Srila Prabhupada's books after his dissappearance which is so wrong.

            I first came to Krsna Conciousness in 1985. Firstly at Soho Street where I had the darshan of Sri Sri Radha - London Isvara, Sri Sri Jagannath - Baladeva - Lady Subhadra. Then I visited Bhaktivedanta Manor in Watford and took darshan of Sri Sri Radha - Gokulananda, Sri Sri Sita - Rama - Laxman - Hanuman. I'd grown up in West London in a place called Southall. It's affectionately known as the 'little Punjab' being full of Indian migrants mainly of North Indian heritage. Mainly Sikhs, with a few Hindu's and even less Muslim's. I'd visited the Mandir's In Southall and as beautiful as the deities were in both Mandir's, nothing could rival the pujari service at both UK ISKCON temples. Absolutely stunningly beautiful. I had never seen such an amazingly kept temple for cleanliness and the prasadam and Maha blew my mind. I was a seeker and I said to myself "At last, I've found where I belong.

            When I watched the autobiography about Srila Prabhupada and learned more about what he had achieved at such an advanced age. Opening so many temple, circumnavigating the globe twelve times, writing and translating so many books, corresponding with all his devotees in mainly hand written letters, and constantly on the move preaching, I was like wow, this person out of this world.

            I've seen a few changes over the year's as I know you have, but beyond any negativity the beauty, the process and the philosophy haven't changed. I'm thankful that Krsna so kindly picked me up and placed in the association of His devotees.

            The spiritual potency asa result has gone evinced by the fact that European and American ISKCON temples are filled with Indian Hindus instead of local people convinced by the fired up ISKCON Devotees from days of yore.

            Krishna Consciousness is still available especially by hearing from those following Srila Prabhupada's instructions strictly and even more so from someone who received the order by the previous Acarya to become the Spiritual Master.
