Russian Book Fair -- Moscow 1990s -- Hare Krishna Booth

Historically book fairs were a very important aspect in introducing Krishna consciousness to Russia. In the Soviet communist years the Russian government was very much afraid any religious organizations and they were most particularly afraid of the Hare Krishna movement.
However, at the same time, Russia has got a long history and interest in the ancient Vedic culture. So it was possible to introduce Srila Prabhupada's Vedic cultural books into communist Russia through the book fairs as they are ancient Vedic cultural spiritual textbooks.
This video, of course shows a more recent book fair, in the 1990s, when Krishna consciousness was legal in Russia.
