Jesus in India? -- BBC Documentary

Investigates the possibility that Jesus spent his youth in India and returned to preach the knowledge he acquired in India. The BBC documentary makers come to the conclusion that Jesus studied Buddhism in India, however I think that is unlikely as the philosophy that Jesus taught has very little in common with Buddhism. However the teachings of Jesus and the teachings of Krishna are much more similar...

A better question might be: "Is the Jesus of Christianity an actual
historical personality?"

Thank you for this nice posting. As is usual with television
documentaries; no conclusions are made. If anything conclusive was
said or determined then the broadcasters would not be able to make
another 8 programs addressing this same question. What these video's
do provide are several paths of which your own scholarly inquiry might
find merit. While it is best to do such searching under the guidance
of a spiritual master and not a BBC production... there were none the
less 3 distinct possibilities covered in this video and nothing final
was said on the early life of Jesus. As to why the BBC finds
'similarities' between Buddhism and Jesus... We shouldn't forget that
the British aristocracy fought to suppress Vedic culture... So we
should not suddenly expect them to profess their cultures greatest
hero as a product.

I am now about thirteen minutes into this vidio and I am now feeling
insulted when the narrator speaks of Jesus' sense of morals and ethics
and especially when the narrator dares to ask: "Where did Jesus get
this knowledge?" The premise of this question is not only insulting
but loaded and presumes that the Jews had no such knowledge,
themselves, that they had no ethical or moral framework from which to
work? Did they not have the Torah? The Talmud? The ancient scrolls
that went back even further than that, which had been written, tried
and proved correct for them over thousands of years? Again a premise
is approached by this video by subtly but clearly advancing the idea
that only Buddhism is moral, just and ethical. I don't accept that and
I make no apologies for my opinion on this. Now, feeling insulted by
this subtly arrogant and incorrect video I'm going to go watch
something else. If those of you who present this video in the hope of
bringing people to Hari Krishna you may be sadly disappointed because
it doesn't work. It only insults and offends those of us who have
studied over many years and have information and facts to back up what
we say. Where's your references? Your notes? Your information pointing
to the scholars, scrolls and books you built your information from? I
don't see it therefore this video is invalid to me and I see nothing
in it that would clearly indicated any part of it is factual.

I'm about eight minutes into this Jesus In India video and already I'm
skeptical. So far everything that's been said is the supposition that
the scholors know nothing. This, alone, is a glaring inacuracy and
completely false. First, Jesus lived in a Roman occupied Israel for it
was a Roman province at the time. It must be clearly and definitely
noted that the Romans were notorious record keepers, taking notes on
just about everything in Roman political life. This is demonstrated by
the statistic that the number one job in Rome at the time was that of
Scribe: The person responsible for recording everything they were told
by their superiors to write down. There were literally thousands of
scribes all over rome working every day.
Many thousands of old
Roman scrolls and documents have been discovered and catalogued. Of
particular interest to us at this point are the scrolls the Romans
kept about Jesus after he came to their attention at around 30 A.D.,
when he started preaching. The scrolls very clearly verify not only
the existance of Jesus who, to the Romans, was known as "Yeshu", but
they give a very clear description of him as well as of his accounts.
These records go back from the time of his birth to the time of his
crucifixion and death and in none of these Roman records is there any
mention of him ever having gone to India since it would have been
recorded by those making exit, entry and tax records for the Roman
Governor.

According to the Holly Tradition of Orthodox Church ,Jesus lived in
Israel untill 30 years ,the legal age of peaching in jewish
tradition.JESUS IS THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERS AND THE CREATOR KNOWS
EVERYTHING.Remembr that Jesus at 12 years old was in Temple of
Jerusalim and showed to rabbis His dep understanding of Bible.A
understanding more deep than of knowledge of rabbis(the only Church
who preserved the real Tradition of Christos and the only one Church
who teach about the posibillity to SEE GOD(anyone person if believe in
Jesus) in His uncreated Light of Tabor Mountain)

Jesus was Bhakta not Buddhist he teach about God and not about
impersonal Brahaman like Buddhists

Shouldn't BBC first figure out if Jesus actually existed and than
worry if he traveled anywhere?

Posted By: Gopal (948 days ago)

The Urantia Book may shed some light on this. Jesus traveled
extensively with a successful Indian businessman and his son, but
never traveled to India himself.

JesusCristh in India?... maybe, and why not?, I ever believed in that
possibility, necesarilly He learned and practizaced with another
masters, and not only with jews rabbies; a man like He gives us many
motives to think in His Wisdom and His way to teach to us...
