Dan Michel 5 years agoThe attempt was sincere and pure, but a few years later, almost all the leaders, especially the imposters who came after Srila Prabhupada fell from grace and there have been a lot of divorces and questioning.

In Australia they were lucky not to have had child sexual abuse as there was in India and the USA... There was probably psychological abuse, to be sure, but the devotees were young and inexperienced. Some children have paid the price. Hoping that they were not discouraged and still follow the path of bhakti!

RSJ CMP 4 years agoa very simplistic characterization of the tradition that is incorrect. Affection is given daily (affection doesn't equal sex). here is a quote from the Vedic literatures: "“A woman must be honored and adorned by their fathers, brothers, husbands, and brothers in law, who desire their own welfare. Where women are honored, there the gods are pleased; but where they are not honored, no sacred rite yields rewards. Where the female relations live in grief, the family soon wholly perishes; but that family where they are not unhappy ever prospers. The houses on which female relations, not being duly honored, pronounce a curse, perish completely, as if destroyed by magic. Hence men who seek (their own) welfare, should always honor women on holidays and festivals with (gifts of) ornaments, clothes and (dainty) food. In that family, where the husband is pleased with his wife and the wife with her husband, happiness will assuredly be lasting.”
