Excellent video! I hope this video will remove many misconceptions about Hare Krishna. Every religion initially started as a cult and then expanded including Christianity and Islam. Hare Krishna is not a cult. It is part of Hinduism and is thousands of years old. You cannot make practicing a brand of Hinduism illegal in the USA.

Yeah, the only difference between a cult and a religion is the amount of political power you have. The jesus cult is in control of much of the world, and they fear competition from a bona fide religion.

@dharmayogaashram979 ISKCON is a branch of the Gaudiya Math, a Vaishnava sect with an unbroken disciplic succession going back to Lord Caitanya. Lord Caitanya taught that Krishna was the supreme lord, and service to Krishna was the goal of life. Your approval and understanding are not required. 😎

What an idiot that woman was to say that you'd miss a hamburger, etc.

Why would you prioritize a certain propaganda taste over the thousands of better tasting vegetarian food that you could use for nourishment without torturing and killing innocent animals?

She really needs to get out from such justified barbaric practices.

As an American that was probably the most asked question I ever got. What about hamburgers? What about fried chicken? Back in the 80s Americans simply could not wrap their heads around being vegetarian (many still cannot). 😎

I remember when this episode came out. I was in seminary at the time. After graduating seminary I quit the church (the only honest & logical thing to do), then converted to ISKCON. 😎

So, all gurus are falling dawn! What is wrong about ISCKON? Something must be very wrong! Philosophy itself?

Some have fallen, certainly not all, or even most. It is unfortunate when a guru falls but I am glad to see that ISKCON is proactively keeping the house clean. Most religious institutions have rocky beginnings, and far too many cover up bad leaders forever.

The entire poisoning accusations are ludicrous. Srila Prabhupada had diabetes and renal failure. Verified by doctors and testing. A fallen guru makes up the ritvik garbage and the poisoning lie. You should be more careful who you listen to in your spiritual leaders.

A well rounded documentary. Shows both sides of the story. Interesting to see that despite differences with the way they were brought up the devotees keep coming back. My visits to Iskcon temples in the UK and once at Bangalore, India have been enriched by witnessing the sincerity of western devotees. Beautiful, talented people living their lives on universal principles of love, non violence and devotion. We are vegetarian and look for hare krishna restaurants whenever we visit Europe (Eastern European cities can be a vegetarian's nightmare)

Of course, there is a bit of bigotry (which is so alien to the pluralistic tradition of India) when you hear Hare Krishna people preaching. Their books say there's no salvation if you don't accept Krishna as the supreme. I don't mind that because I don't have to agree with them to visit their temples. And other religions are so full of bigotry anyway.

@sashamellon822 The guru can deliver the devotee to god, so they deserve respect. The guru is not god. You do not worship your guru, but you give them the same respect as god (more like practicing). 😎

Cat, you seem to be confusing affection with dick. A husband and wife can be affectionate without intercourse. That is very low brow thinking. 😎
