A hardcore band appears to be a very material solid hard heavy thing but if it's contacted with the spirit then it becomes energized like when we plug into an electric outlet it becomes electrified. So when we plug it into Krishna by using the band as a way of expressing emotion for Krishna and also to serve Him, please Him, introduce people to Him, then the band also becomes another aspect of meditation or yoga.
These thing's are temporary, and we're not temporary.
Sex is suffering.
Sex, people got after sex like it's the only thing in the world but there's a time in your life that you're not going to be able to have sex and if you depend on it for happiness then you're in a lot of trouble because you're going to suffer.
And that one thing is an intense desire for selfless love. A love that can't be found on the TV set and won't be bought in the store. We search for relationships that are full with reciprocation and only a weak person will deny that.,
But you're not waking up this time,
you're not waking up...

- Jackets On Fire 3 years agoIt’s not about not having sex, it’s about thinking it’s the only thing that matters. I mean just look at incels for example. They’re miserable because they think that’s the only thing that will give them happiness. I wouldn’t knock it man. A lot of what these guys say still resonates heavily today. Plus going back to what straight edge originally meant was no promiscuous sex. Basically fucking around and getting stds, having kids out of wedlock, breaking up relationships. It’s just destructive habits. Minor Threat said the same exact thing. I doubt you’d call Minor Threat as worse as Christian Punk

Chris 4 years agoWonderful to see these young, energetic people utilizing their talents, abilities, and activities in Krishna's service. So many dozens and dozens of people have come to Krishna consciousness through their music and are still coming to Krishna consciousness through their continued service efforts. The largest Hare Krishna podcast (Wisdom of the Sages) has a massive following and is led by Raghunath das and Kaustubha das who both played in these hardcore bands. John Joseph continues to teach and encourage people in Krishna consciousness, albeit in his own unique way.

Srila Prabhupada taught that bhakti-yoga is not about adopting some artificial imposition, but rather is about simply connecting to our true spiritual nature and "adding Krishna" to whatever our material occupation is. These devotees have mastered that art and are showing it to us in real life.

Makes me realize It's all about time place & circumstance and also about unity in diversity. Krishna hardcore music? Why not! Thanks to Shelter I came in contact with Krishna Consciousness in my adolescence. Not so much into hardcore anymore, but still into Hare Krishna :-)

Patrick Riccio 5 years agoThis is awful.As a disciple of Srila Prabhupada this wasn't what he envisioned Krishna conscious to be. This is just away for these guys to dovetail their attachment to this horrible music and say they are preaching. Bogus! This was 1999. Now it's 2021. I wonder where they all are today?

- Krishna Tube 5 years agoI agree. I think it was a terrible mistake. So it is part of the history of ISKCON, that is why I have included it here. Vraja Kishor, I stayed with him for some time at Gita Nagari, and tried to mention some things from Prabhupada, but he said, "How can I know Prabhupada?" "I have my spiritual master and he likes it." And he was preaching that Bhagavatam is old, for the olden days, and his music, this music, is the Bhagavatam for the 21st century. That was their idea... Fortunately their music is gone now and we still have Prabhupada's Bhagavatam. Best not to make this mistake again...

- Andrew Pequita 3 years ago@KrishnaTube their music isn’t gone. 108 is one of the most influential and vital hardcore bands from the 90s and they preached positively and a drug free lifestyle to thousands of young people around the world who went on to become successful and functioning members of society. This music kept so many of my friends from a life of crime and drugs. The guitarist is a famous author and yoga instructor now. Maybe your dogmatic view of this is what’s actually wrong.
