  • These are the fog-covered hills near Moundsville, West Virginia. Moundsville is a small town nestled in these hills which is the site of an Indian burial mound. There's nothing out of the ordinary here except for one thing. It sits on a ridge about twelve miles from the town and when you see it you don't believe it.
It's called Prabhupada's Palace of Gold. It was designed and built entirely by the Hare Krishna devotees as a memorial to the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
There are about three hundred Hare Krishna devotees living in the community which surrounds Prabhupada's Palace. Based on the principle of simple living and high thinking the community is designed to become totally self-sufficient. They grow their own food on farms.
