  • Queen Kunti prays: "My Lord, Your Lordship can easily be approached, but only by those who are materially exhausted. One who is on the path of material progress, trying to improve himself with respectable parentage, great opulence, high education and bodily beauty, cannot approach You with sincere feeling."
Srila Prabhupada speaks on this verse (Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.8.26) and explains that generally speaking one who has great wealth and beauty becomes intoxicated by his wealth and beauty and this blocks his spiritual advancement. In that sense wealth and beauty has no value. It is nothing more than a collection of zeros. But, if you have many zeros, and if you can add a one before them, it becomes ten, then a hundred, then a thousand, the ten thousand.
So Srila Prabhupada concludes that you Americans have so many zeroes in the form of wealth and beauty, all you have to do is add the one, Krishna, and your zeros immediately become immensely valuable.
