whizz108 2 years agoI think original when prabhupada was physically present it meant for govinda ji..in fact they were going to replica they main temple's of vrndavana in new vrndavana. When srila prabhupada entered samadhi. The then temple was changed to prabhupada memorial.
I could be wrong heard from local devotees living there

There is a nice intro video of hare Krishna people. It shows devotees doing various activities like singing, tanpura, drama, yatch etc. Where can I get it?
Henry Doktorski 4 years agoDue to my great skill at faultfinding, I found an error: around 23 minutes, the film shows workers at Prabhupada's Palace under construction, but the speech by Kirtanananda Swami accompanying the construction speaks about building the Govindaji temple. I guess this was a simple mistake by director Yadubara dasa, as the film and the commentary were recorded separately and then combined. You can see Kirtanananda Swami walking in the background from right to left in the Palace construction scene. I confirmed this with two long-time New Vrindaban residents Somadasa dasa and Nityodita dasa, and they both say this is the Palace, not the Govindaji temple (which was hardly even started). By the way, Soma says the two workers laying block are Shridar and Kirananas Prabhus and it was filmed in 1973.
Matthew 4 years agoI'm not one of the Hare Krishnas, but I have met them many times and they are lovely people. I really respect this religion and the Hare Krishna mantra is beautiful.
Henry Doktorski 4 years ago@Matthew-LAMF When I lived at New Vrindaban, the local farmers used to call us "Swami's White Slaves," but we wanted to be slaves! Slaves for Krishna and the spiritual master.
