During the 1990's Hare Krishna devotees were daily performing Sankirtan [the congregational chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra] on the Capital Mall in Washington DC outside the Smithsonian Museum. The KrishnaFest team performed dynamic kirtana on the mall in front of the Smithsonian Museum.
This was a very ecstatic preaching program that engaged the hundreds of thousands of students and others who visited Washington DC during the Spring and Summer.
The program was lead by Gunagrahi Swami and his KrishnaFest team. This program continued in the Spring and Summer for a number of years in the 1990's.
This is Part 1 of a documentary on the KrishnaFest On the Capital Mall. I think there will be another two or three parts to come.

- Al Wolf 5 years ago@gauradas108 I was in part 1 and 2 it was in the spring after the robin George case part two said it was 1991. I am in there from 9:30-9:40 and some other parts guna grahi Maharaja had me hold on to the Lakshmi bags because I was a little more intimidating than some of the other devotees he said. Gaura Das 5 years agoI had the privilege to spend the first six months in 1992 with Gunagrahi Swami's wing of Krishnafest. I joined Sankarsan prabhu, Dhirodatta prabhu, and Bhaktia Mike to do kirtan , and to also serve the dozen young bhaktas. We had several swamis come to say with us at Prabhupada's House in Potomac like TKG, Mukunda das Goswami, BB Govinda Swami before he accepted sanyassa,. Raghunatha Prabhu came to join us while he was writing his songs for Shelter. It was six of the most wonderful months in Srila Prabhupada's mission!
