The original authorized biography of His Divine Grace A.C.
Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).
"Your Ever Well-Wisher" is a biographical film produced by Yadubara Prabhu and Vishaka devi dasi of ISKCON Cinema in 1983.
"Your Every Well-Wisher" starts with a brief history of Srila Prabhupada's life and what inspired him to come to the United States at the age of seventy years old with the mission of spreading the chanting of the Hare Krishna maha mantra all over the world on the order of his spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur.
In India we hear from the printer who used to print Back to Godhead magazine for Bhaktivedanta Swami in Calcutta, we also hear from Srila Prabhuapda's first and only Indian disciple.
Prabhupada was preaching boldly in India also, prior to traveling to the United States, however in India he was not able to convince many to seriously follow the teachings of Lord Krishna.
When Prabhupada arrived in America he spent a month in Butler, PA, where he was hosted by Sally Agrawal and her husband.
So we hear Sally recount her experiences living with Srila Prabhupada and the life changing impressions he left with her.
Prabhupada then moved to New York City, with no friends, money or support and somehow lived there for almost a year until the summer of 1966 when he met some young hippies who helped him rent a storefront at 26 2nd Ave in the Lower East Side of NYC.
We hear from Mukunda Gosvami who was there at the time and who helped Srila Prabhuapda rent the storefront.
Then we hear from Alan Ginsburg, who was also associating with Srila Prabhupada and his small group of followers at the time.
"Your Ever Well-Wisher" documents the amazing story of how Srila Prabhupada inspired a few LSD intoxicated hippes to become strict pakka Vaisnavas, giving up all types of intoxication including even tea and coffee, giving up illicit sex, meat eating and gambling, dedicating their lives 24 horus a day, seven days a week to serving Srila Prabhupada and Krishna.
It was this small group of sincere followers that Srila Prabhupada was able to inspire to strictly follow the process of Saddhana Bhakti or Bhakti Yoga, thus empowering them to preach and go to other cities and open new centers for the Hare Krishna movment.
After some time some of Srila Prabhupada's disciples established a center in San Francisco, so Srila Prabhupada left New York City and went to San Francisco to inspire his disciples there and encourage their preaching efforts.
In San Francisco the devotees organized a concert where many famous rock bands of the time performed including the Grateful Dead at the Avalon Ballroom.
Srila Prabhupada was the headline artist.
Srila Prabhupada performed kirtan and everyone chanted Hare Krishna and danced in ectsasy.
Allan Ginsburg also spoke and participated in the kirtan.
"Your Ever Well-Wisher" continues to chronicle the rapid expansion of Srila Prabhupada's Hare Krishna movement all over the world during the 1970's and in the conclusion we see the disappearance of Srila Prabhupada in Vrindavan at Krishna Balarama Temple in November of 1977.
This is only a one hour documentary, so it is not possible to elaborately describe the pastimes and achievements of His Divine Grace A.C.
Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in an hour.
However, "Your Ever Well-Wisher" gives a very good overview of how Srila Prabhupada took the Hare Krishna movement from India and solidly established it all over the world in just eleven years.
There is so much more, however "Your Ever Well-Wisher" is a very good place for someone who knows nothing about Prabhupada and the Hare Krishna movement to start their adventure into discovering the purpose of life and the key to spiritual success and an eternal life with full knowledge and ever-increasing transcendental bliss.
Chant Hare Krishna and be happy! Enjoy the film!
