I belong to an association of disciples of Srila Prabhupada and we all feel the same way you do. Prabhupada's final order is not being followed, and the GBC has changed all of Srila Prabhupada's books. The books don't say what Srila Prabhupada's original books say. So they are ruining the lives of many sincere seekers of truth who are being deceived and lied to. So, if there is anything that devotees here in America can do to help you, please let me know. - Nevil Moncher 3 years agoI was in Prbhupadas room 2 weeks before His departure slong with 4/5 businessmen supprters and the discusion was on future gurus. Finally Prabhupada said ...no one is qualified...i have to make best use of a bad bargain....ultimately it is Lord Chaitanya's Movement...
Thats all in need to know that these so called self appointed gurus are false. They are the cause of hundreds of disciples/godbrothers/sisters who left or were driven out.
If Prabhupada's assets, his disciples were kept together, can you imagine how Mahaprabhu's movement would have grown.
This false guru issue is the only cause of Iskcon's problems

Aryan Dev Pandey 4 years agoSrila Prabhupad was about to wrap up his pastimes and thus he became ill due to old age. Thus travelling became difficult. Bust since Srila Prabhupad was physically present in the world, his disciples could not make disciples of themselves. At that time, His Dive grace was receiving many many requests and letters for initiation (as confirmed by HH Tamal Krishna Maharaj). SO FOR CONDUCTING INITAITION DURING THOSE DAYS AND CIRCUMSTANCES PRABHUPAD ESTABLISHED RITVIK SYSTEM. ONLY FOR THOSE DAYS. This has been done previously by many acharyas (Example: Bhaktivinod Thakur once sent BSST on his behalf to attend a spiritual fuction and take his place and authority as Bhaktivinod Thakur was himself not very well for some time. Does that mean all of BSST's disciples are bhakti vinod thakur's disciples?) Notice the letter does not even mention the time when Srila Prabhupad will not be physically present in the world. In fact, later he mentions in a conversation that he wants his disciples to become Gurus and make disciples who will be his (prabhupad's) GRAND DISCIPLES. These unqualified gurus have created havoc to Lord Chaitanya's Movement.
I was in Prabhupada's room 2 weeks before his departure with 4/5 senior businessmen and the discussion was on future gurus. Finally Prabhupada said... no one is qualified...I have to make the best use of a bad bargain...finally it is Lord Chaitanya's Movement...He will take care.

All the others who were original disciples of Srila Prabhupada were forced out because they raised voices against the system.

We have to try to improve the situations amongst devotees and create favourable environment to practice devotional service. GBC is formed bt Srila Prabhupada to save ISKCON from breaking apart after seeing the condition of gaudiya math
But, ritviks did the same thing and broke ISKCON. At present ISKCON preaching is flourishing by mercy of Chaitanya mahaprabhu and now leadership is taking proper steps in that direction.- thumb_up — 1
- Gouranga Productions 5 years ago@ranjeet436 why did Gayudiya math broke, because after the physical dissapearence of Śrī Śrimad Bhaktisiddhānta Saraswathi Thakur Prabhhpād, his disciples disobeyed him, and thus they left.. same thing happened in ISKCON, unfortunately, the 11 disciples misunderstood the order of Śrīla Prabhhpāda and they became Diksha Guru, whereas Prabhhpāda never appointed them, it's the same case of Gaudiya math and now Iskcon GBC elects the guru based on votes in other words they elect one guru it's totally a wrong system..

Srila Prabhupada always wanted his disciples to become Guru but not in his presence. There are many writings of Srila Prabhupada over this. Prabhupada appointed 11 ritviks to carry on initiation when Prabhupada was present in his vapu form.
But later many fell from their position as they fall prey to maya and took role of spiritual master immaturely.
But, GBC has served it's purpose for which Srila Prabhupada formed it and saved ISKCON from breaking apart. And Prabhupāda before leaving the body he said on my order u become Guru and that order never came that was a reason why many of ISKCON Gurus fell down, a Bonafide Guru can never fall, as he is constantly receiving the mercy of His Guru.

He wanted the disciplic succession to continue but as his health was not good enough, he appointed ritvik Acharyas. This does not give license to continue that system permanently and stopping the disciplic succession.
There are 2 things Letter & Spirit.
We agree there were falll downs but that does not give license to continue the ritvik system illegally. There is no concrete evidence for that. When there is some confusion over some things we should refer shastra and sadhu.

U need the benediction from the higher authority, u can't become Guru ,it is not Bonafide.. And the disciplic succession is not stopped the knowledge is there, when the flow of knowledge stops that's when the succession stops.

Just have faith in dear disciples of Srila Prabhupada who are carrying the order till their last breath. These conspiracy theories and ritvik system of initiation has its root in being senior devotees falling away.
There are many conversations and personal dealings of Srila Prabhupada where he clearly told that all of his disciples to become guru. His vision was like that. And, he stated in 9th July letter also till Spiritual master is present disciple can not become guru. What more evidence you want?
Srila Prabhupada could not officially order but he wanted his sincere disciples to carry on this disciplic succession forward.
On contrary there is no evidence in shastra for this bogus ritvik initiation. Neither, Srila Prabhupada ordered to carry ritvik initiation after his departure.
I am amazed how people can accept ritvik initiation. Please take in consideration all the Writings of Prabhupada before coming to any incorrect conclusion.

If some confusion is there we have to take help of shastra and Sadhu. But, the problem is ritviks don't feel any need to consult either of them and become fanatics.
Thus, breaking the iskcon into parts against the will of Srila Prabhupada.

Svarat Das 4 years agoYou dont understand the meaning of living, its not the body. Pure devotee is always Spiritual. But the condition soul whom you think a living sadhu in Iskcon is material. His instruction if as its taught by Srila Prabhupada as it is, then the instructions are spiritual. It is spiritual as long as, it is as it is. They change even Srila Prabhupada words in his books, kirtan, method of worship, creatr their own guru parampara, create their own pranama and many more. If Srila Prabhupada gave him authority, why did he need to depend on mundane votes? Srila Prabhupada wrote in Srimad Bhagavatam that a diksa guru doesn't needs mundane votes to start initiating. If Gaura Govinda Swami was being truthful, he should have started giving initiations in 1978 itself.

But Prabhupāda gave very clear instructions for the proxy system to continue. It itself says ritvik initiation is bogus. Initiation of mantra happens from gurus mouth to disciple ears. This is what initiation mean. Not ritvik initiation. Mantra travels from Chetana to Chetana. Books are reference of what acharyas have gave to their disciples that doesn't mean whatever in one book is only the path. “Ritvik system is not authentic”
Just because someone says the ritvik system is not authentic, why should it be accepted blindly? Srila Prabhupada personally authorized the ritvik system in his July 9, 1977 letter. It was sent to all GBCs and never revoked. Authenticity lies in Pure Devotee's desire, not tradition alone.
“Traditional parampara means unbroken physical initiation”
True - but parampara means to carry forward the instructions of the acharya. Srila Prabhupada remains the diksha guru, and ritviks simply officiate - just as he instructed. That is the very reason why traditional acharyas have long paramparas with unbroken succession - not for the sake of formality, but to ensure the original instructions of the acharya are preserved and faithfully passed down. In the case of Srila Prabhupada, he established the ritvik system to ensure his instructions continue exactly as he desired.
“Initiation means mantra from guru’s mouth to disciple’s ear”
Even during Srila Prabhupada's time, the Gayatri Mantra was chanted through Prabhupada's recorded tape - a process that continues to this day. It’s unfortunate that this simple yet profound arrangement is being misunderstood. Yes. And this still happens. Srila Prabhupada, being a nitya-siddha pure devotee, can speak through his books, lectures, and instructions - spiritually received in the disciple’s heart. Prabhupada himself said there is no difference between me and my book.
"Why the traditional acharyas have a long paramparas with unbroken succession"
It’s not about formality - it’s about faithful obedience to Srila Prabhupada. Just like Lord Narasimha appeared from a pillar to prove the words of His pure devotee Prahlada true. It is not about tradition alone, but about the will of the Lord carried through His devotee. Now please try to understand about the will of Srila Prabhupada.
